Minnesota Score Radio to Broadcast 22
Minnesota Ripknees Games

08-Nov-06

Minnesota Score Radio announced today a partnership with the ABA expansion Minnesota Ripknees to broadcast 22 regular season games for the 2006-07 season. The games will be broadcast on AM 1570 KYCR (Twin Cities) and simulcast on www.minnesotascore.com. Minnesota Score Radio has been broadcasting the Boys State High School basketball and hockey tournaments since 1994 as well as Prep Bowl, and specializes in broadcasting local and regional sports.

The broadcast schedule will begin on Thursday, November 9 when the Ripknees travel to Davenport, IA to take on the Quad Cities River Hawks. The first home broadcast will be on Monday, November 13 when Minnesota plays host to the Toledo Ice at the Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia University in St. Paul. ?We are thrilled to have a radio broadcast deal in place already in just our first year of existence,? said General Manager and Head Coach Larry McKenzie. ?It will give our fans a chance to follow the team throughout the season.?

The Minnesota Ripknees were granted an ABA franchise on September 29 to the father and son ownership team of Jack and Billy Jurewicz. The Ripknees inaugural roster includes former Gopher Mitch Ohnstad, former Viking TJ Cottrell and former Wisconsin Badgers star Roy Boone. The team is coached by McKenzie and former Gopher Melvin Newbern.

Veteran broadcasters Eric Nelson and Wally Langfellow will handle play by play and color commentary. Nelson and Langfellow also co-host a sports talk show that airs Fridays and Saturdays statewide on AM 660 (WBHR). The show is produced by Minnesota Score Radio. In addition, Nelson is a regular sports talk host on WCCO-AM 830. Langfellow is the publisher of The Minnesota Score magazine, the state’s only all sports publication.

The Minnesota Score magazine, parent company of Minnesota Score Radio, covers sports from youth to the pros with in-depth and unique features along with award-winning photography. Published six times per year, The Minnesota Score is a subscription-based magazine on newsstands across the state and online at www.minnesotascore.com.

The Ripknees season runs from November 9 through March 8, 2007. Tickets for home games can be purchased by calling the Ripknees office at 651-647-5633.
