One year after seeing their perfect season end on a Rodney Williams Jr blocked shot at the buzzer of the section finals, the Osseo Orioles exacted a measure of revenge. With 6′9″ center Sam Dower leading the way with 18 points, the Orioles knocked off Robbinsdale Cooper Friday night 58-51 at Rogers High School. The victory gives the Orioles the Section 5AAAA championship and earns them a spot in the state tournament.

The Orioles assumed an early lead in the game and never let up, extending at one point in the second half to 16 points. Kenquane Brown and Joe Bright led a late Cooper surge that fell short. Brown finished with 22 points while Bright added 19. Rodney Williams Jr, who has signed to play with the Gophers next year, was held to just six points on two baskets and two free throws. On the night, Cooper shot a miserable 9 for 20 from the free throw line while Osseo connected on 11 of 14.

The Orioles are a likely 4th seed when the state tournament pairings come out this weekend for the state tournament which begins on Wednesday at Target Center.
