Tigers shut out Twins

The AL Central leading Detroit Tigers shut down the Twins 4-0 Friday night at Target Field. Detroit scored all four of their runs in the 6th inning….Same two teams Saturday night at 6:15 Central at Target Field.

· The Twins fell to the Tigers tonight, marking their second straight loss and evening their record in the month of June to 6-6…the Twins are now 4-7 against the Tigers this season, including 2-2 at Target Field…the Twins have dropped four of their last five against the Tigers…Minnesota is 9-16 against the American League Central this season…the Twins were shutout for the sixth time this season.
· Scott Diamond allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out one in 5.2 innings…all four runs came in the sixth inning…Diamond is now 1-5, 6.40 ERA (32.1 IP, 23 ER) in six starts at Target Field this season…he is also 0-2, 4.19 ERA (19.1 IP, 9 ER) in three starts against the Tigers at Target Field in his career…with the loss, Diamond has now lost four of his last seven starts.
· Clete Thomas (1-for-2) collected his seventh hit in his eighth game of the season…over his last three games he is hitting .555 (5-for-9) with two RBI.
· Oswaldo Arcia (1-for-3) doubled in his second at-bat of the night, his third double since his recall on June 11…in fact, three of his five hits since his recall are for extra-bases.
