TWINS NOTES:
· The Twins are now 6-18 vs. the American League East…the Twins were swept for the fourth time this season and first since the Yankees swept them in a four-game series at Yankee Stadium, May 15-18…the Twins went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base…they are 2-4 through six games on their current nine-game homestand.
· The Twins have homered in each of their last 10 games, the most since they homered in 12 straight from July 14-26, 2002.
· The Twins lost three straight for the first time since June 6-8 when they dropped two to Seattle and one to Oakland…today marks just the second time this season in which the Twins lost three consecutive home games, the last was June 20-July 3 when they lost two to Houston and one to Detroit (nine-game roadtrip in between losses).
· The seven consecutive losses for the Twins vs. the Yankees are their most since they lost 13 straight games vs. NYY from May 10 2002-April 21, 2003.
· Francisco Liriano made his second career start vs. the Yankees (0-1)…his home record in 2009 fell to 1-5 in eight starts.
· Twins pitchers on the homestand have posted an ERA of 4.72 (61.0 ip, 32 er)…starters have an ERA of 6.25 (31.2 ip, 22 er) over the six games.
· Jason Kubel hit his first home run since June 24 at Milwaukee off Braden Looper…all 14 of his home runs have been hit off righties.
· 13 of Jose Mijares last 14 appearances have been scoreless…he has allowed just five hits during that span in 10.0 innings.
· The announced attendance of 40,142 was the third-highest home attendance of the season…the Twins drew 107,797 fans over the three-game series with the Yankees, second-most for a three-game series at home all season (Milwaukee, May 22-24 – 109,803).
