TWINS NOTES:
· The Twins are 3-5 through eight games on their current nine-game homestand…the Twins have now lost four of their last five games.
· The Twins held the White Sox homerless for the third straight game, dating back to May 21…it is the longest stretch for Twins pitching vs. the Sox since they held them homerless in four straight from August 25-September 18, 2005.
· Glen Perkins made his first start since July 1 at Kansas City, he missed the last three days with flu-like symptoms…the 4.1 innings, marked his second shortest outing of the season and shortest since he lasted 0.2 innings on May 18 at New York (AL)…he dropped his first start since June 21 vs. Houston, snapping a personal two-game win-streak…the two walks for Perkins were the most since May 13 vs. Detroit when he walked four, he had just two walks in five starts since then.
· Denard Span (2-for-5) is batting .325 (50-for-154) with 30 runs scored and 20 rbi (28 total) at home this season…he’s hitting .372 (29-for-78) in the Dome since May 12, (fifth best in the AL) while the Twins are 12-7 during that span.
· Justin Morneau snapped an 0-for-13 with a fifth inning single…his last hit previous to that was on July 5 vs. Detroit, the four-game span was his longest of the season without a hit.
· Joe Crede hit his third and fourth home runs vs. the White Sox this season…just four of Crede’s 14 home runs have come with men on base…all 14 of his homers have been hit off righties and nine of them have been hit in the Dome…ninth career multi-homer game, last coming on June 7, 2008 vs. Minnesota…second four-rbi game of the season for Crede.
· The three walks for R.A. Dickey were his most since his start on April 10 at Chicago (AL) when he walked four…all three walks scored on the Thome double in the sixth.
· Jose Morales is now 3-for-9 with two rbi as a pinch-hitter this season…he drove in two runs in the ninth with a single, pinch-hitting for Nick Punto.
· Prior to tonight’s game, the Minnesota Twins inducted two new members into the Twins Hall of Fame…former righthanded pitcher Brad Radke, started 377 games for the Twins, winning 148 games, notching 1,467 strikeouts and tossing 2451.0 innings pitched, ranking in the top five all-time for the Twins in those categories…George Brophy was an original member of the Twins organization in 1961 and spent 25 years working for the Twins farm system and scouting departments…Radke and Brophy become the 20th and 21st members of the Twins Hall of Fame, established in 2000.
· The announced attendance of 41,416 was the largest since Opening Day (April 6) when the Twins drew 48,514 vs. the Seattle Mariners.
