Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced that they will select the contract of right-handed pitcher Kevin Mulvey prior to Friday night’s game in Texas. In 17 starts this season, Mulvey, 24, has posted a 3-6 record with a 3.93 ERA (103.0 ip, 45 er) while recording 81 strikeouts and walking just 31 batters for the Rochester Red Wings. To make room for Mulvey on the 25-man roster, the Twins have optioned catcher Jose Morales to Triple-A Rochester. In three stints with the Twins this season, Morales appeared in 32 games, hitting .343 (23-for-67) with four doubles and four rbi. Morales, who made the Twins Opening Day roster, was drafted by the Twins in the third round of the 2001 First-Year Player draft.
The Twins now have 12 pitchers and 13 position players on their 25-man roster.
