Just when you thought the Gophers were on the verge of falling out of contention (with losses to Northwestern and Purdue) they climb right back in. First an ugly win at Indiana on Sunday, then a convincing 59-36 win Thursday night over #20 Illinois at the Barn. Devoe Joseph, Al Nolan, Lawrence Westbrook and Damian Johnson and company looked more like a top twenty team than the 20th ranked Illini. The Gophers dominated in the late going and made Illinois look sick. The Gophers hold Illinois to just 36 points, their lowest total of the season. For Minnesota, the win is their first over Illinois since 1999, a streak that went 20 straight games. Illinois was just 2 of 15 from three point range on the night. Westbrook finished with 15 points and 6 rebounds.
