Twins, Pavano come to terms on 2 year deal

Carl PavanoThe Minnesota Twins announced today that they have agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Carl Pavano on a two-year, $16.5 million contract.

Pavano, 35, was 17-11, 3.75 ERA (221.0 ip, 92 er), allowing 227 hits with 37 walks and 117 strikeouts in 32 starts for the Twins last season.  His 17 wins were the second-highest single-season total of his career (18 in 2004 with Florida).  Pavano tossed a career-high seven complete games, including two shutouts.  His seven complete games were tied with Cliff Lee for the second-most in the Major Leagues in 2010 (Roy Halladay - nine). 

Pavano has a career record of 97-89, 4.34 ERA (1503.2 ip, 725 er), allowing 1629 hits with 377 walks and 956 strikeouts in 258 appearances (240 starts) with the Montreal Expos, Florida Marlins, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins.
