Wolves Radio Rights go to WCCO-AM

Minneapolis/St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves and WCCO-AM 830 announced that they have reached an agreement on a multi-year radio partnership beginning with the team’s upcoming 23rd season in 2011-12. As the team’s flagship station, WCCO-AM will broadcast all of the Timberwolves’ 82 regular-season games, playoff contests and two preseason games. Pregame and postgame shows will also be featured on-air and streamed on-line prior to and following all games. Additional programming and promotional/marketing elements included in the agreement will be announced at a later date.

“We’re excited about teaming up with WCCO, one of the premier radio stations in the country,” said Wolves president Chris Wright, who announced the partnership live on The WCCO Morning News with Dave Lee earlier today. “This agreement shows that WCCO shares our excitement about the direction and future of our team. And with its 50,000-watt signal, WCCO will provide all of our fans in the Upper Midwest with a clear, far-ranging signal for our games. We feel that this partnership is beneficial to both parties, and truly is phenomenal for our fans.”

“This is an NBA franchise on the upswing, and this announcement creates the perfect marriage between the team and 830 WCCO-AM and the unparalleled signal coverage it provides to the Upper Midwest,” said Mick Anselmo, CBS RADIO Minneapolis Senior Vice President/Market Manager. “830 WCCO-AM’s on-air staff has an enthusiasm for the NBA that is unmatched in the market and we’re all excited to partner with the Wolves.”
